One and Only

Healing for the soul

won’t follow the path

predicted by the mind,

demanded by the heart.

Healing for the soul requires 

water from the deep well,

air of the high heaven,

an earth of forest green

and bright light of the sun.

The formula is simple,

engaged through innocence

and the silence

of the yielded self.

Take this morning for instance:

find within your store of truth,

turn your eyes to the eastern sky,

feel the power rising 

from the earth below your feet

and let yourself be lifted

with the rising sun.

Of course you’ll have to repeat this

until the soul unfurls

it’s flag of freedom

and by then your robe will be worn,

feet blistered on the kora path

but not a bad choice

on the one and only morning

you have to awaken.

Lost Treasure

Without a sound

the sun rises

to open the day.

Turning down the volume

of opposition, 

serenity is found 

hiding as always

in my own heart.

Emptying the vessel

of conflicted thought

the way opens

to the lost treasure

of silence.
