The Immediacy of His Presence

evening meditations with a few friends
Here are some words from the transcript of a morning service by John Gray, titled Rain Words, where he speaks of the firmament which unites the waters above and the waters below, the heavenly design above and the heavenly design below. John says,
“I am profoundly
thankful for the immense divine presence that surrounds and enfolds and covers
the human world in love and glorious light. Let's each of us in our own way continue with every breath to give
ourselves wholeheartedly into the creative process by which the actually rather
small gap of connecting heaven is infilled, and the world is made whole.
Substance rises when we worship like this. A cloud of glory forms, and for this
little while we’ve just shared, precipitation comes in the form of rain-words,
falling gently from heaven.” [archangelicbody.org] This rather small gap is the firmament, the atmosphere, the vibratory medium that becomes so substantial and clear that the design of the seven-dimensional world, which is currently invisible to most human beings because of the veil, begins to become apparent because of this transparent heavenly substance provided by those who live on earth—men and women who now are generating a clear medium through which the invisible design and the spirit of it can flow into outer world circumstances and bring about a transformation. This creative emergence, moving from above down, has been happening on earth in a deliberate and focused way for a considerable period of time.
It may be useful to take this hour to highlight a few of the things which we have been privileged to know—expanding and clarifying the understanding which has brought truth more clearly to remembrance by the Comforter, that it may be a vibrant truth living within us, so that we know personally from the inside out. This is an interesting and vital point to think about because it can easily be seen that most of the creative thinking that has bathed and blessed us has come though other people—and this as it should be in the beginning, that we all have been blessed by an increase in spiritual understanding because of close association with the creative genius of others. Their spirit, their depth of feeling, their clear thinking, their articulation of the living truth calls for us to do likewise; for each of us to be humble, but bold in our spiritual thinking, feeling and expression, to let that same quality of spiritual ingenuity come through each of us as well. Ingenious creative expression has been left to a few who have shared abundantly, but the time has come for each of us to come forth in this same way with one another, and in the world with which we interface.
We are in the Solstice Cycle, and the period that Christianity calls Christmas and names as the time for a celebration of the birth and life of Jesus, and the calendar New Year approaches as well—events of both Cosmic and human significance. Christmas in the world in general is a very childish affair—for the most part, an immature celebration of what is imagined to be the story of the birth of the baby Jesus, the Christ child. So it is a story about a baby archangel (if there is such a thing) coming into the world, and the story bears all the trappings of human perception laid upon an imagined Christ figure. No doubt, in some considerations of the Christ story at Christmas-time, in churches and at musical events, and in homes and in family gatherings, there is some touching of the grandeur of the Spirit of the One who was born. Something of the greatness of His Spirit does begin to ascend in the heaven that opens, and that people share at such times—and there is a feeling of being deeply moved by the music and the stories, and the communion shared in the Archangelic Spirit that is drawn to remembrance. And it is a wonderful thing, when this begins to happen.
The thing that is wonderful is that this touching happens in the present moment. On such occasions it is not a remembering of something that happened in the past, it is a touching of the living spirit of that Great One, right now. It is being experienced in this present moment, and it is deeply moving. We have been in gatherings where the reality of His Spirit is vividly present in the atmosphere and we experience hearts and minds being changed—our own hearts transformed, humbled, softened, enlarged; and the arrogance of the mind’s perceptions of things, and its goals, dissolves in the Presence of the greatness of His Spirit. It is easy to feel the expanding experience of Oneness, of fusion, of love where that Spirit begins to rise in the heaven, when music and song and story are shared, bringing the spirit more vibrantly into expression in the room where people meet.
Such experiences are worthy of deeper meditation after events which catalyze such intensification, after people go home and find a quiet place to reflect on what has occurred, having been touched by the atmosphere and the Spirit of His Presence. Whoever evokes that Spirit through music or word or song, is enabled to do so because they are expressing that One Spirit in a unified way, increasing the atmosphere of heaven and the greatness of it—and such spiritual expression transforms, at least for the moment, those who are in the immediate vicinity and who are open to what is being offered. For a short while people go away changed, and something of a promise lingers kindly in the invisible surrounding field.
It is not hard, then, to understand that even with a small increase in the clear, rich, true expression of His Spirit, in the darkened room of world consciousness, that the light may be turned on, so that people experience, see, hear and feel more of the greatness of what is always at hand without necessarily understanding it. And in those moments, in a very real way, His Presence is touched—and it is immediate, it is here and now. He, by reason of His Spirit is present in the room. We have called it an upper room, and that is accurate. There are stories in the New Testament, at the beginning of the Book of Acts, after the crucifixion and before the complete ascension, where it is said that Jesus would mysteriously appear in a room where before it seemed that He was not present. This illustrates something significant for us now—that though He may not be physically present in a given room, the light of His Spirit may be present in any room, or in the one room of human consciousness, all the time, by reason of those who provide the quality of heaven through which that Great Spirit is expressed and brought into the here and now.
Awareness of these things, the expression and experience of them, is the only way to live a life of prayer—really. We can take a few moments and speak words of prayer, words of thanksgiving, words of devotion, and have them be genuine, and expressed as a means of focalizing the current of spirit in the moment to the degree that we actually have the experience of living a life of continuous prayer—which is a consciousness of His Spirit and therefore the immediacy of His Presence, all the time, so that we are never outside of that, even in the darkened room of the world soul as it now is. When the Word is spoken in that darkened room, the light begins to glow, the immediacy of His Presence is felt, and behaviour changes, as it must within that transformative influence. The quality of thinking and feeling changes—it becomes devotional; devoted to something higher and finer than that to which it had previously been given—a change in the orientation of devotion. And in this way, into the darkened room of world consciousness, He is coming, He is walking, His light is appearing, and of course this is changing everything, everywhere.
We are full of gratitude for the release and the increase of light through each of us now. The Presence of the Greatest One, Whose birth we acknowledge in this season of the year, and Whose Spirit in mature expression of Manhood allowed a conception to occur in the womb of the unconscious world soul, is keenly felt now. He initiated an archangelic conception and development which has been carefully tended by the Mother and the Father; and by devoted Sons and Daughters, throughout these past 2000+ years—those men and women who were at least somewhat aware of that conception and continuing incarnation, which is now more directly brought to remembrance and into current understanding, into the early morning light of this day. So we assume our responsibility for the greater coming forth, for welcoming His Spirit and His Presence in the unified substance of heaven. We may be a reminder of the enduring vibrancy of all life present in and on the earth, providing a sanctuary womb for the ongoing transformation of the world soul—and the eventual transmutation that we know is inevitable.
O LORD, we are so very thankful for the gift of light and for the comforter Who has come into our lives: into our hearts through Thy Spirit of love, into our minds through Thy Spirit of light, and into our bodies through Thy Spirit of life; and into our spiritual awareness as the truth of ourselves, so that the three comforters of Thy Triune Spirit, the great Archangelic Spirit, is found to be our own spirit and our own identity—each of us as angels once more coming into living, creative expression as a part of Thy Great Body, in this second coming of the Christ Presence. Even as You came and presented yourself as a Man in a human body, so the Christ Presence comes again through the angels that we are, with others, who compose Thy heavenly host on earth. We are the evidence of the Presence of Thy Christ Body once again coming into form on earth, light in the remaining darkness of the world soul, rising as the Morning Star begins to rise at the dawning of every new day in the springtime season of this new age. We keenly feel Your Presence through the intensifying Spirit that we feel moving in the heaven of our own body temple, and the increased clarity of the light coming through the truth of who we are, and being expressed in the world. And so we are thankful for this protected place, this holy place, the sanctuary which has been provided, and which we help to sustain, with others, on earth, a womb through which the greater coming forth may occur in your appointed times and seasons. We are most thankful, O LORD, for the opportunity that we have had to sit together tonight, representing many. And we remain close with Thee, even as we feel You close with us, always.
