Spirit  of  Purification

The sun shines bright

on this September morn,

the light of forgiveness

resting upon the earth

on this day of atonement,

when each one may open their heart

and come to the great altar.

There is so much to repent -

the desecration of the earth,

the violence upon each other,

the pride of ignorance

and prejudice against truth.

Perhaps deepest of all

the separation from God

and denial of the Great Mystery.

All these I acknowledge 

in this sacred hour,

requesting forgiveness

and cleansing of the impure heart.

Of my heart indeed yet also

the many who live and know not.

I stand in the gate of purification

and open it wide, beckoning

to all my fellows to enter here,

find solace in the Holy Spirit

as you relinquish sin and iniquity.

Many will laugh with scorn,

inveterate in their wicked ways,

yet there are those who will awaken

and to those I call, come up

and pass through this gate,

that your heart be made pure

through repentance and forgiveness

and allow the blessing of the Lord

to be received and flow freely

unto all Eden’s sons and daughters.
